Considering the beautiful valley of the Nesse, the geometries of the bridge and its supports was a special feature of this bridge design. The bridge spans vary accordingly to the valley depth, such that the ratio bridge height / bridge span remains almost constant.
When designing the bridge pillars, several closed and dissolved shapes were concerned. A portal frame type came to construction, with the pillars being inclined versus their center and the pillar head being adjusted to functional requirements.
